NEW YORK (AA) - The stock market opened lower Tuesday with a decline in oil prices.
The Dow fell 36 points to begin the day at 20,844 and the S&P 500 was down seven points to reach 2,365 points.
The Nasdaq lost 20 points to start trading at 5,855 points.
At the first bell, American benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was trading at $47.51 a barrel with a 1.7 percent decline. International benchmark Brent crude was at $50.61 per barrel -- a 1.4 percent decline.
