NEW YORK (AA) - The stock market opened lower Tuesday with a decline in oil prices.
The Dow fell 97 points to begin trading at 20,539 points, and the S&P 500 lost seven points to start the day at 2,341 points.
The Nasdaq decreased 15 points to open at 5,841 points.
At the first bell, American benchmark West Texas Intermediate was trading at $52.44 per barrel with a 0.3 percent decline, while international benchmark Brent crude was at $55.06 a barrel -- a 0.4 percent loss.
