US stock market opens mixed

Dow Jones reaches new record-high level

NEW YORK (AA) - The stock market opened mixed Monday with the rise in shares of investment banks and losses in tech stocks.

Dow Jones increased 35 points to open at 18,883 -- posting a new all-time record-high level.

The S&P 500 added two points to begin the new week at 2,166. The Nasdaq, however, was down six points at 5,230.

President-elect Donald Trump's plan to increase infrastructure spending has continued to benefit investment banks' stock prices.

Shares of tech firms, however, began falling again amid worries since Trump had called the rise in tech stocks "a bubble" during his campaign.
