ISTANBUL (AA) - US stock market opened Monday with losses.
The Dow Jones fell 78 points, or 0.22%, to 35,202 at 9.56 a.m. EDT, while the S&P 500 was down four points, or 0.11%, to 4,459.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq declined 12 points, or 0.1%, to 13,631.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, jumped 6.3% to 15.78. The 10-year US Treasury yield, meanwhile, rose 1.1% to 4.212%.
The dollar index increased 0.5% to 103.37, whereas the euro lost 0.55% to $1.0884 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in negative territory, with gold trimming 0.5% to $1,903 per ounce and silver decreasing 1.3% to $22.40.
Oil prices were down more than 0.8%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $86.11 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $82.48.
