ISTANBUL (AA) – Major exchanges in the US stock market opened higher on Tuesday.
The Dow Jones added 85 points, or 0.26%, to reach 33,600 at 9.42 a.m. EDT (1442GMT), while the S&P 500 was up by five points, or 0.15%, to 3,897.
The Nasdaq gained seven points, or 0.07%, to reach 10,643.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was up 0.4% to 22.06. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 1.8% to 3.582%.
The dollar index was up 0.1% to 103.10, while the euro gained 0.17% to $1.0743 against the greenback.
Precious metals were mixed, with the price of gold rising 0.26% to $1,876 per ounce and silver falling 0.3% to $23.57.
Crude oil prices were in positive territory, with global benchmark Brent crude up 0.6% to $80.14 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate 0.7% higher at around $75.22.
