ISTANBUL (AA) - Major stock exchanges in the US opened Wednesday with gains.
The Dow Jones rose 139 points, or 0.37%, to 38,044 at 9.40 a.m. EDT (1440GMT). The S&P 500 added 25 points, or 0.52%, to 4,890.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq, meanwhile, increased 108 points, or 0.7%, to 15,534.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, lost 0.48% to 12.49. The 10-year US Treasury yield shed 1.26% to 4.092%.
The dollar index decreased 0.8% to 102.79, while the euro added 0.7% to $1.0926 against the greenback.
Precious metals were mixed with gold losing 0.1% to $2,027 per ounce but silver rising 1.6% to $22.80.
Oil prices were in the green, with global benchmark Brent crude rising 0.87% to $80.23 per barrel, and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude increasing 1.1% to $75.18 a barrel.
