NEW YORK (AA) - Indexes in the U.S. stock market opened Thursday at record high levels with companies' strong earnings.
The Dow added 63 points to begin the day at 21,774 points -- an all-time high for the index.
The S&P 500 rose 2 points to 2,480 points and the Nasdaq increased 27 points to 6,450 points. Both indexes reached their record high levels shortly after the opening.
Social media giant Facebook, and aerospace and defense corporation Boeing, saw their stock prices soar after their earnings for the second quarter of this year came strong on Wednesday and Tuesday, respectively.
At the first bell on Thursday, Facebook shares jumped 4.9 percent, while Boeing stock price increased 3.2 percent.
