ANKARA (AA) - Major indexes in the US stock market closed lower Thursday for a third consecutive trading day.
The Dow Jones lost 7.5 points, or 0.02%, to close at 33,546.
While the S&P 500 shed 12 points, or 0.31%, to 3,946, the Nasdaq plummeted 38 points, or 0.35%, to 11,144.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 0.7% to 23.94. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 2% to 3.768%.
The dollar index rose 0.3% to 106.64, still around its highest in 20 years, while the euro lost 0.22% to $1.0369 against the greenback.
Precious metals were down, with gold falling 0.7% to $1,760 per ounce and silver losing 2.4% to $20.96.
Oil prices dropped more than 3%. Global benchmark Brent crude traded at $90.00 per barrel for a loss of 3.1%. US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude was around $81.92 – down 4.2%.
