ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks ended lower Monday after marking record highs for the previous week.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 240.59 points, or 0.54%, finishing at 44,401.93.
The S&P 500 fell 37.42 points, or 0.61%, to reach 6,052.85. The Nasdaq Composite decreased 123.08 points, or 0.62%, to end at 19,736.69.
While the Dow finished above the 45,000 level for the first time last week, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq also ended last week at records.
The VIX volatility index, referred to as the "fear index," rose by 1.42% to 14.19.
Precious metals were in the green, with gold adding 1.04% to $2,660.39 per ounce and silver rising 2.74% to $31.8265 as of 2200GMT.
Oil prices meanwhile rose around 1.21%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $71.80 a barrel.
