ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks opened higher Thursday.
The Dow Jones was up 141 points, or 0.36%, to 39,266 at 9.56 a.m. EDT. The S&P 500 rose 34 points, or 0.67%, to 5,245.
The Nasdaq, meanwhile, increased 133 points, or 0.82%, to 16,410.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 2.2% to 14.01. The 10-year US Treasury yield lost 0.6% to 4.328%.
The dollar index fell 0.3% to 103.92, while the euro added 0.33% to $1.0871 against the greenback.
Precious metals were on the decline, with gold losing 0.55% to $2,287 per ounce and silver falling 1.4% to $26.81.
Oil prices fell 0.1%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $89.31 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $85.41.
