ISTANBUL (AA) - US stock exchanges were lower Friday, the day after the Dow Jones ended its four-day winning streak.
The index was down 39 points, or 0.11%, to 34,907 at 10.41 a.m. EDT (1541GMT).
The S&P 500 lost four points, or 0.1%, to 4,503, while the Nasdaq fell 26 points, or 0.2%, to 14,087.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 3.3% to 13.85. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 0.27% to 4.455%.
The dollar index was down 0.28% to 104.06, while the euro added 0.33% to $1.0896 against the greenback.
Precious metals were mixed, with gold adding 0.1% to $1,983 an ounce but silver flat at $23.74.
Oil prices gained almost 3% with global benchmark Brent crude at $79.71 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $74.95.
