US stocks market opens Friday higher

VIX volatility index falls 0.9%; 10-year US Treasury yield adds 0.85% to 4.179%

ISTANBUL (AA) - Major stock exchanges in the US opened Friday with gains.

The Dow Jones rose 15 points, or 0.04%, to 37,484 at 9.45 a.m. EDT (1445GMT). The S&P 500 added six points, or 0.13%, to 4,786.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq, meanwhile, increased 60 points, or 0.4%, to 15,116.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, lost 0.9% to 14.00. The 10-year US Treasury yield added 0.85% to 4.179%.

The dollar index decreased 0.06% to 103.47, while the euro added 0.01% to $1.0875 against the greenback.

Precious metals were mixed with gold adding 0.2% to $2,027 per ounce but silver trimming 0.7% to $22.59.

Oil prices were in the green, with global benchmark Brent crude rising 0.58% to $79.54 per barrel, and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude increasing 0.62% to $74.40 a barrel.
