ISTANBUL (AA) - Major US stock exchanges were on a mixed note early Thursday.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 73 points, or 0.17%, to 42,439 as of 10.36 a.m. EDT (1436GMT).
The S&P 500, on the other hand, rose 18 points, or 0.32% to 5,814. The Nasdaq Composite added 117 points, or 0.64%, to 18.393.
The VIX volatility index, referred to as the "fear index," shed 0.8% to 19.08. The 10-year US Treasury yield lost 0.6% to 4.219%.
The US dollar index fell 0.23% to 104.19, while the euro rose 0.2% against the dollar, trading at $1.0802.
Precious metals saw gold adding 0.4% to $2,726 per ounce, and silver falling 0.3% to $33.58.
Oil prices fell around 0.1%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $70.72 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $70.70.
