ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks were mixed on Wednesday after starting the day with losses.
The Dow Jones was up 78 points, or 0.2%, to 38,962 at 10.59 a.m. EDT (1459GMT). The S&P 500 rose just two points, or 0.05%, to 5,190.
The Nasdaq, on the other hand, was down five points, or 0.03%, to 16,317 at the time.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 0.23% to 13.20. The 10-year US Treasury yield added 0.54% to 4.483%.
The dollar index rose 0.1% to 105.51, while the euro shed 0.04% to $1.0748 against the greenback.
Precious metals were on the rise, with gold adding 0.04% to $2,311 per ounce and silver increasing 0.7% to $27.43.
Oil prices were in the green, with global benchmark Brent crude rising 0.26% to $83.38 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude gaining 0.43% to $78.72.
