ISTANBUL (AA) - US stock exchanges opened Friday with gains, trying to end a losing streak of three consecutive days.
The Dow Jones was up 23 points, or 0.07%, to 34,094 at 9.59 a.m. EDT, while the S&P 500 was 12 points in the green, or 0.3%, to 4,343.
The Nasdaq, meanwhile, increased 70 points, or 0.53%, to 13,293.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 5.7% to 16.54, while the 10-year US Treasury yield shed 0.7% to 4.452%.
The dollar index was up 0.06% to 105.43 and the euro added 0.07% to $1.0665 against the greenback.
Precious metals were on the green, with gold rising 0.4% to $1,927 per ounce and silver increasing 1.2% to $23.67.
Oil prices were up more than 1.2%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $94.42 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $91.10.
