ISTANBUL (AA) - US stock exchanges opened with losses on Friday.
The Dow Jones was down 72 points, or 0.19%, to 38,833 at 9.37 a.m. EDT (1337GMT). The S&P 500 fell 29 points, or 0.56%, to 5,121.
The Nasdaq, meanwhile, decreased 128 points, or 0.79%, to 16,000 at the time.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, rose 2.3% to 14.73. The 10-year US Treasury yield added 0.3% to 4.311%.
The dollar index increased 0.06% to 103.43, while the euro gained 0.08% to $1.0890 against the greenback.
Precious metals were mixed, with gold losing 0.2% to $2,158 per ounce but silver increasing 1.3% to $25.14.
Oil prices were down around 0.7%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $84.81 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $80.64.
