ANKARA (AA) - Major US stock market indices opened higher on Wednesday as investors monitored the tense situation between Russia, Ukraine, and Western powers imposing sanctions.
The Dow Jones rose 217.08 points, or 0.65%, to 33,813.7663 at 9.30 a.m. EDT (1430GMT). The S&P 500 gained 32.25 points, or 0.75%, to 4,337.
The Nasdaq climbed 130.23 points, or 0.97%, to 13,511 points.
The VIX volatility index fell 3.30% to 27.86, while the dollar index was down 0.09% to 95.92.
Gold lost 0.2% to $1,891 per ounce and silver gained 0.3% to $23.67.
Brent crude was trading at $93.73 per barrel, down 0.13%. US benchmark West Texas Intermediate was at $91.53, a loss of 0.41%.
