ANKARA (AA) - Major indexes in the US stock market opened higher Tuesday with decline in yields and US dollar.
The Dow Jones was up 107 points, or 0.3%, to 34,501 at 9.38 a.m. EDT (1338GMT) with investment banking majors Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan gaining more than 1.3% apiece.
The S&P 500 added 13 points to 4,210 with Tesla gaining 0.9%. The Nasdaq rose 66 points, or 0.5%, to 13,727 with Moderna soaring 3.2% after the pharma firm said its vaccine is 100% effective among ages 12-17.
The VIX volatility index was down for a second consecutive day by 0.1% to 18.37, while the yield on 10-year US Treasury bonds fell 1.1% to 1.591%.
US dollar index, which shows the strength of the greenback against a basket of six other major currencies, declined 0.1% to 89.76. Euro gained 0.3% against the dollar by reaching 1.2254.
The decline in volatility and American dollar indicated that investors have been moving from safer bets to riskier assets.
After rallying more than 11% on Monday to recover from its two-week slump, Bitcoin was trading around $37,600 at the time.
