US stocks open in positive territory

10-year US Treasury yield falls 0.42% to 4.077%

ISTANBUL (AA) - Major stock exchanges in the US opened Wednesday with gains.

The Dow Jones rose 71 points, or 0.18%, to 38,592 at 9.45 a.m. EDT (1445GMT). The S&P 500 added 16 points, or 0.32%, to 4,970.

The Nasdaq, meanwhile, increased 48 points, or 0.31%, to 15,656.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, lost 0.23% to 13.03, while the 10-year US Treasury yield fell 0.42% to 4.077%.

The dollar index declined 0.12% to 104.09, while the euro rose 0.2% to $1.0775 against the greenback.

Precious metals were mixed with gold adding 0.3% to $2,042 per ounce but silver decreasing 0.2% to $22.39.

Oil prices were in positive territory, with global benchmark Brent crude rising 0.45% to $78.94 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude increasing 0.5% to $73.70.
