ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks opened Tuesday in the red.
The Dow fell 365 points, or 1.03%, to 35,109 at 10.08 a.m. EDT. The S&P 500 was down 41 points, or 0.91%, to 4,477.
The Nasdaq plummeted 162 points, or 1.16%, to 13,830.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, jumped 10.9% to 17.49. The 10-year US Treasury yield, meanwhile, fell 1.9% to 4.000%.
The dollar index rose 0.67% to 102.73, while the euro fell 0.58% to $1.0938 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in negative territory, with gold falling 0.6% to $1,926 per ounce and silver decreasing 1.7% to $22.73.
Oil prices were down more than 1.2%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $84.30 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $80.93.
