ISTANBUL (AA) - US stock opened mixed Wednesday.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 58 points, or 0.15%, to 39,063 at 9.57 a.m. EDT.
The S&P 500, on the other hand, fell seven points, or 0.15%, to 5,167. The Nasdaq was off 84 points, or 0.52%, to 16,181.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, rose 0.4% to 13.90. The 10-year US Treasury yield increased 0.6% to 4.180%.
The dollar index decreased 0.1% to 102.82, while the euro added 0.12% to $1.0936 against the greenback.
Precious metals were on the rise, with gold adding 0.4% to $2,167 per ounce and silver increasing 1.1% to $24.40.
Oil prices jumped more than 2.3%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $83.83 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $79.67.
Bitcoin, on the other hand, was down 0.6% to $72,534 and Ethereum lost 0.7% to $3,987.
The total value of the cryptocurrency market was up 0.44% to $2.72 trillion, according to data from CoinMarketCap, a digital asset price-tracking website.
