ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks opened Friday mixed but the S&P 500 managed to climb above the 5,000 level once again after the index hit the all-time high level on previous session but failed to close above it.
The S&P 500 was up seven points, or 0.15%, to 5,005 points at 9.55 a.m. EDT. The Nasdaq, meanwhile, rose 68 points, or 0.44%, to 15,862.
The Dow Jones, on the other hand, decreased 69 points, or 0.18%, to 38,659 at the time.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, rose 0.4% to 12.84, while the 10-year US Treasury yield rose 0.17% to 4.179%.
The dollar index decreased 0.07% to 104.09, while the euro added 0.06% to $1.0783 against the greenback.
Precious metals were mixed, with gold trimming 0.45% to $2,025 per ounce but silver increasing 0.05% to $22.59.
Oil prices rose around 1%, with global benchmark Brent crude adding 0.9% to $82.37 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude increasing 1.25% to $77.17 a barrel.
