ISTANBUL (AA) - US stock exchanges opened Monday with losses, following their fourth straight winning week.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 39 points, or 0.11%, to 35,350 at 9.37 a.m. EDT.
The S&P 500 decreased 11 points, or 0.25%, to 4,558. The Nasdaq, meanwhile, lost 36 points, or 0.26%, to 14,214.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was up 4% to 12.97 at the time. The 10-year US Treasury yield fell 0.6% to 4.455%.
The dollar index declined 0.1% to 103.41, while the euro shed 0.1% to $1.0929 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in positive territory, with gold adding 0.4% to $2,011 an ounce and silver increasing 1.5% to $24.70.
Oil prices fell around 0.6%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $79.95 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $74.95.
