ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks opened Thursday flat as exchanges did not show much change at the first bell.
The Dow Jones was down 18 points, or 0.05%, to 39,109 at 9.54 a.m. EDT. (1354GMT). The S&P 500 added just one point, or 0.02%, to 5,479.
The Nasdaq increased only 23 points, or 0.13%, to 17,828.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 0.3% to 12.51. The 10-year US Treasury yield decreased 0.84% to 4.278%.
The dollar index lost 0.3% to 105.75, while the euro rose 0.4% to $1.0722 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in the green, with gold adding 1.1% to $2,324 per ounce and silver increasing 0.8% to $29.01.
Oil prices were up around 0.8%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $85.18 and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $81.59.
