ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks opened Thursday higher, as they are still trying to recover from previous days' losses.
The Dow Jones was up 307 points, or 0.79%, to 39,070 at 9.39 a.m. EDT (1339GMT). The S&P 500 rose 51 points, or 1%, to 5,251.
The Nasdaq, meanwhile, gained 170 points, or 1.05%, to 16,365.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, plummeted 7.5% to 25.75. The 10-year US Treasury yield increased 0.9% to 4.001%.
The dollar index rose 0.22% to 103.43, while the euro lost 0.33% to $1.0886 against the greenback.
Precious metals were on the rise, with gold adding 1.3% to $2,414 per ounce and silver increasing 1.9% to $27.12.
Oil prices were mixed, with global benchmark Brent crude losing 0.17% to $78.20 per barrel but US benchmark West Texas Intermediate rising 0.07% to $75.28.
