ISTANBUL (AA) – US stocks opened Thursday with losses.
The Dow Jones fell 62 points, or 0.18%, to 33,889 at 9.34 a.m. EDT. The S&P 500 declined 10 points, or 0.25%, to 4,354.
The Nasdaq decreased 28 points, or 0.21%, to 13,473 at the time.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, jumped 4.6% to 13.81.
The 10-year US Treasury yield, meanwhile, rose 1.1% to 3.766%.
The dollar index added 0.16% to 102.23, while the euro shed 0.1% to hit $1.0978 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in negative territory, with gold trimming 0.5% to $1,923 per ounce and silver losing 0.7% to $22.49.
Oil prices were down almost 3%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $74.95 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $70.39.
