ISTANBUL (AA) – US stock exchanges opened Thursday with gains.
The Dow Jones was up 54 points, or 0.14%, to 37,710 at 9.39 a.m. EDT, while the S&P 500 added eight points, or 0.17%, to 4,790.
The Nasdaq, meanwhile, increased 28 points, or 0.2%, to 15,129.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was up 0.16% to 12.45 at the time. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 1% to 3.824%.
The dollar index decreased 0.05% to 100.94, while the euro shed 0.1% to $1.1098 against the greenback.
Despite gains in recent days, precious metals were down with gold losing 0.15% to $2,074 per ounce and silver trimming 0.4% to $24.16.
Oil prices were down around 1%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $78.67 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $73.36.
