ISTANBUL (AA) - Major US stock exchanges opened with losses on Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 204 points, or 0.48%, to 42,720 as of 9.59 a.m. EDT (1359GMT).
The S&P 500 fell 18 points, or 0.32% to 5,833. The Nasdaq Composite lost 102 points, or 0.55%, to 18.470.
The VIX volatility index, referred to as the "fear index," rose 2.2% to 18.60. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 1.3% to 4.262%.
The US dollar index increased 0.36% to 104.44, while the euro lost 0.22% against the dollar, trading at $1.0774.
Precious metals were in negative territory. Gold lost 0.5% to $2,736 per ounce and silver fell 2.5% to $33.98 per ounce.
Oil prices decreased around 0.7%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $75.47 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $71.25 per barrel.
