ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks opened with losses Tuesday.
The blue-chip Dow Jones was down 39 points, or 0.12%, to 33,836 at 9.59 a.m. EDT (1359GMT). The S&P 500 fell 23 points, or 0.56%, to 4,113.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq decreased 69 points, or 0.58%, to 11,967.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, jumped 4.3% to 17.61. Meanwhile, the 10-year US Treasury yield fell 2.8% to 3.417%.
The dollar index rose 0.36% to 101.71, while the euro declined 0.37% to $1.1 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in negative territory, with gold dropping 0.05% to $1,988 per ounce and silver losing 1.4% to $24.8.
Oil prices fell around 2%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $80.88 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude sitting at $77.25.
