ISTANBUL (AA) - US stocks bounced back from losses despite a lower opening to close Friday with gains.
The Dow Jones, down as much as 272 points, was up 288 points, or 0.87%, to end the day at 33,407.
The S&P 500 added 50 points, or 1.18%, to finish the session at 4,308. The Nasdaq, meanwhile, soared 211 points, or 1.6%, to 13,431.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 5.6% to 17.45. The 10-year US Treasury yield was up 1.8% to 4.799%.
The dollar index was down 0.2% to 106.11, while the euro added 0.34% to $1.0589 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in positive territory, with gold rising 0.6% to $1,831 an ounce and silver increasing 2.8% to $21.57.
Oil prices rose around 0.5% with global benchmark Brent crude at $84.45 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $82.85.
