WASHINGTON (AA) - The US will host China's special envoy for climate change Liu Zhenmin in Washington on May 8-9 for a meeting, the State Department said Monday.
The meeting of the bilateral Working Group on Enhancing Climate Action in the 2020s is aimed at accelerating concrete climate actions this decade, the department said.
It will focus on areas such as energy transition, methane and other non-CO2 greenhouse gases, the circular economy and resource efficiency, and deforestation, it added.
The Working Group is co-led by Senior Advisor to the President for International Climate Policy John Podesta and Liu Zhenmin.
Last year, the US and China decided to operationalize the Working Group to engage in dialogue and cooperation to accelerate concrete climate actions in the 2020s.
