Deficit falls $0.9 billion from $89.3 billion in November

ISTANBUL (AA) - The US trade deficit for goods decreased 1% to $88.5 billion in December 2023, according to data released Thursday.

The trade deficit, the difference between imported and exported goods, declined $0.9 billion from $89.3 billion in November, the Commerce Department’s Census Bureau said in a report.

The expectation was for the figure was to come in at $88.7 billion.

Exports in December last year totaled $169.8 billion, which were $4.1 billion more than in November.

Last month, imports were $258.3 billion -- $3.2 billion more than the previous month.
