SANAA, Yemen (AA) – The Houthi group in Yemen reported that the US and British air forces carried out airstrikes on the airport in the western province of Al Hudaydah on Friday.
The US and UK air forces targeted Al Hudaydah Airport four times, Houthi-run Al-Masirah television reported, without providing any information on casualties or damage.
The US and UK have so far issued no comment on the report.
Al Hudaydah is a major Yemeni province with three vital ports and a long coastline.
Since the beginning of 2024, coalition forces led by the US have conducted airstrikes in Yemen, claiming to be targeting Houthi locations in response to the group's attacks in the Red Sea. The group has occasionally retaliated in response to counterattacks.
In solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which is facing a devastating Israeli offensive, the Houthis have targeted Israeli cargo ships or those associated with Tel Aviv in the Red Sea with missiles and drones.
With the intervention of Washington and London and an escalation of tensions, the Houthis announced they now consider all American and British ships as military targets.
