ISTANBUL (AA) - US wholesale inventories increased by 0.4% in December last year, compared to the previous month, according to Commerce Department figures released Thursday.

The figure, which measures the change in the total value of goods held in inventory by wholesalers, was at $897.7 billion at the end of December, it said in a statement.

The figure came much better than market expectations of a 0.2% decline.

The November figure was revised from a decrease of 0.2% to a decline of 0.4%.

Annually, however, wholesale inventories in December 2023 were down 2.7% compared to the same month of the year before.
