MOSCOW (AA) – Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent on Thursday hosted the a global event on cooperation between parliaments and sustainable development.
Opening the event, Uzbek Parliament Speaker Tanzila Narbayeva said some 50 countries and international organizations were participating in the Second Global Forum on Interparliamentary Cooperation and Sustainable Development.
"Uzbekistan pays great attention to establishing practical cooperation between parliaments, governments and civil society institutions in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals and holding regular parliamentary and public hearings for this purpose," she said.
According to Narbayeva, the Uzbek authorities created the concept of "parliament – government – civil society institutions" to implement national goals in sustainable development and establish parliamentary and public control in this area.
The Turkish delegation was chaired by the head of the Turkish-Uzbek Interparliamentary Friendship Group, Osman Mesten.
