ANKARA (AA) - PSV Eindhoven announced Wednesday that Ruud Van Nistelrooy has stepped down as manager, the club said in a statement.
The board of directors had a meeting late Tuesday with Van Nistelrooy after several discussions about the club's internal affairs in recent days, it said.
Van Nistelrooy, 46, announced Wednesday to the first-team squad and coaching staff that he would be stepping down with immediate effect, citing a lack of support from the club as the reason for his resignation.
PSV said they regreted Van Nistelrooy’s decision and thanked to him for his work.
Van Nistelrooy began his major league management career with PSV in July 2022.
He won the Dutch Cup (TOTO KNVB Cup) and the Dutch Super Cup (Johan Cruyff Shield) in his maiden season.
