ANKARA (AA) – Red Bull Belgian-Dutch driver Max Verstappen on Sunday won a rain-drenched and greatly shortened Belgian Grand Prix with a time of 3:27.071.
The race started with a 30-minute delay as Sergio Perez also of Red Bull crashed before the grid.
Race Director Michael Masi threw a red flag two times due to the relentless rainfall and a handful of laps made behind the safety car until finally, Masi decided to end the race at just 18:45.
George Russell of Williams took the second spot, making his first podium appearance in Formula One, while Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes placed third.
All drivers were awarded half points as more than two laps – but less than 75% of the race – were completed.
