ANKARA (AA) - A video of an Iraqi doctor singing for his patient went viral in the social media with dozens of thousands of people liking, commenting on, and sharing the content.
An elderly woman, believed to have contracted the novel coronavirus, appears in the video, enjoying and rejoicing the way the doctor is performing.
Arab activists highly circulated the content, giving special thanks to what they described as the "white army", referring to doctors and medical staff.
Hundreds of doctors have died of the COVID-19 in the Arab world, including 10 doctors in Iraq, and 105 in Egypt.
Anadolu Agency has yet to independently verify the video or reach the doctor.
Iraq has been hit hard by the pandemic with 94 additional fatalities on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Iraqi Health Ministry said the country’s nationwide death toll rose to 2,779 while the total infections hit 67,442.
The pandemic has claimed nearly 550,000 lives worldwide, while recoveries exceeded 6.6 million, according to figures compiled by the US-based Johns Hopkins University. Total confirmed cases topped 12 million early Thursday.
