BAGHDAD, Iraq (AA) - Iraq's parliament on Wednesday postponed the vote for a new speaker, according to a statement by the legislature's media office.
The parliament had convened in an extraordinary session chaired by Mohsen al-Mandlawi, the first deputy speaker, to elect the new speaker.
Last week, Iraq's top court revoked the parliamentary membership of parliament speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi on charges of forgery. He was elected for a second term as the speaker in 2022.
