NEW YORK (AA) – Wall Street closed higher Monday to begin the new week with gains in tech sector.
The Dow added 45 points to end the first trading day of the week at 19,216 -- setting a new all-time closing level.
The S&P increased 12 points to 2,204 and the Nasdaq rose 53 points, or 1 percent, to finish the day at 5,308.
E-commerce giant Amazon saw its shares rise 2.6 percent, while shares of American automaker and energy storage firm Tesla increased 2.8 percent.
Information technology company Hewlett-Packard's stock price rose 2.8 percent.
