Wall Street closes lower with data, tech stocks losses

Twitter shares fall 2.5 percent

NEW YORK (AA) – It was a down day on Wall Street with weak economic data and tech losses Thursday.

The Dow Jones lost 29 points to close at 18,169. The S&P 500 was down six to 2,133 and the Nasdaq ended the day with a 34-point decrease at 5,215.

Durable goods orders unexpectedly fell 0.1 percent in September from the previous month, according to the Commerce Department. Analysts expected the numbers to remain unchanged.

Although Twitter announced a rise of 8 percent in third quarter revenue, its stock price fell 5.2 percent to as low as $17.07 after beginning the day at $18.

Tech companies GoPro and FitBit also saw their shares fall by 3 percent and 2.3 percent, respectively.

The market will closely watch the U.S.'s fourth quarter GDP figures scheduled to be announced before the opening bell Friday.
