NEW YORK (AA) – Wall Street ended Wednesday mixed as the decline in oil prices was offset by the gains in technology.
The Dow fell 31 points to end the day at 18,034 points and the S&P was down one point to 2,125. The Nasdaq, however, closed 18 points higher at 5,173 as technology stocks rallied.
Apple's shares rose 3.6 percent Wednesday, while Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba saw its stock price jump 2.1 percent.
Crude oil prices continued to decline with worries about the increasing glut of supply in the global oil market and low overall demand.
At the final bell, American benchmark West Texas Intermediate was down 2.7 percent to $43.70 per barrel. International benchmark Brent crude traded at $46.01, down 2.4 percent.
