GUMULCINE, Greece (AA) — The West Nile virus has claimed the lives of five people in a single week in Greece, health authorities said on Friday.
The Greek National Public Health Authority said in a statement that the virus caused the death of six people in total in different parts of the country this year.
It was further stated that five of these deaths were recorded in the last week.
Experts emphasized the importance of personal protection against mosquitoes, which are the primary transmitters of the virus.
