ISTANBUL (AA) - The western state of California in the US is currently grappling with three significant wildfires that have consumed more than 400 square kilometers (100,000 acres), stretching the resources of firefighting.
The Bridge Fire that started Sunday has burned 198 square kilometers with 0% contained. "The behavior moderated significantly due to increase in humidity and a decrease in temperatures,” said the Los Angeles Fire Department.
An emergency proclamation is in effect and evacuation orders are in effect for some areas in the region.
The Line Fire has scorched 137 square kilometers, with only 14% containment, and the Airport Fire has consumed nearly 89 square kilometers in Trabuco Canyon.
"These three simultaneous fires are stressing resources for the fire department," Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone told CBS News.
He added that his department is requesting assistance from northern California and neighboring states.
