Global crude steel production edged up 2.2% year-on-year to 152.6 million tons in August, according to World Steel Association (worldsteel) data released on Monday.
The world's top steel producer China posted a 3.2% hike in August's reading of 86.4 million tons.
The steel production of India – the number two producer – soared 17.4% to 11.9 million tons last month. The figure was down 2.9% to 7.1 million tons in Japan and up 1.1% to 7 million in the US.
Russia is estimated to have produced 6.4 million tons this August, up 8.9% from the prior year.
Türkiye, the world's eighth-largest crude steel producer, saw a 2.9% drop in crude steel production last month, to 2.8 million tons.
In January-August, world crude steel output reached 1.26 billion tons, a slight annual rise of 0.2%.
