DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AA) – The world's largest technology fair, GITEX, will be held in Europe for the first time in 2025, a senior German official announced on Wednesday at the ongoing event in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The event, which has been organized in Dubai for over 40 years, will be held in Germany’s capital of Berlin in May 2025, Franziska Giffey, vice mayor of Berlin and state senator for economic affairs, energy, and enterprises, said
"As we come in, together, we can achieve more and shape our joint future," Giffey said.
"Looking at Germany and Europe today, you will find the country and the continent in the midst of Europe in the midst of rapidly transforming area of countries which are witnessing the new industrial and economic revolution," she added.
The event will be organized by Dubai World Trade Center subsidiary KAOUN International in collaboration with Messe Berlin.
"Berlin is a natural partner and twin to Dubai," said Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE minister of state for artificial intelligence, digital economy, and remote work applications and chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy.
"Going to Berlin proves that we are able to take the best and brightest minds from the region to Europe and also bring them back to Dubai," he added.
The five-day GITEX GLOBAL, which began on Monday in Dubai, is hosting around 6,000 firms from 180 countries.
The Africa edition of the event will be held in March of next year in Marrakech, Morocco.
