ISTANBUL (AA) - The world’s oldest known wild bird, Wisdom, a Laysan albatross, has laid an egg at the age of 74, according to US biologists.
The bird was filmed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) at the Midway Atoll national wildlife refuge in the Pacific, with her current mate caring for the egg.
While members of her species typically live between 12 and 40 years, Wisdom was tagged in 1956 when she was approximately five years old.
Her most recent chick hatched in 2021, and it is believed that she has raised over 30 chicks throughout her lifetime.
