Yemen’s Houthis report fresh US-British airstrike on Al Hudaydah

Attack targets As-Salif district in Al Hudaydah province

SANAA, Yemen (AA) – Yemen’s Houthi group reported a fresh US-British airstrike on Thursday against its sites in the western province of Al Hudaydah.

The attack targeted the As-Salif district in the province, the Houthi-run Al-Masirah television reported.

No information was provided about casualties or damage.

There was no comment from the US or Britain on the report.

Al Hudaydah is a major Yemeni province with three vital ports and a long coastal strip.

On Wednesday, the group said that US and British warplanes had carried out three airstrikes in Ad-Durayhimi district of the same province.

Since the beginning of 2024, a coalition led by the US has been conducting airstrikes that it said are targeting Houthi locations in Yemen in response to attacks by the group in the Red Sea. The counterattacks have been occasionally met with retaliation from the group.

In solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which is facing a devastating Israeli offensive, the Houthis have targeted Israeli cargo ships or those associated with Tel Aviv in the Red Sea with missiles and drones.

With the intervention of Washington and London and an escalation of tensions, the Houthis announced they now consider all American and British ships as military targets.
