MOSCOW (AA) – Russian media claimed on Saturday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy "made a difficult decision" to fire Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyi.
The Russian daily MK.ru claimed, citing sources in Ukraine that Saturday’s meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine prompted Zelenskyy to reshuffle military and law enforcement ranks.
According to the newspaper, Zelenskyy intends to remove General Staff Chief Serhiy Shaptala, Joint Forces Commander Serhii Naiev, and Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko from their positions.
Ukrainian officials have yet to respond to the report.
Independent verification of claims is difficult due to the ongoing war and regional tensions.
