MOSCOW (AA) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed on Thursday a law legalizing cannabis for medical and industrial purposes.

"The bill on regulating the circulation of cannabis plants for medical, industrial purposes, scientific and scientific-technical activities to create conditions for expanding patients' access to necessary treatment for oncological diseases and post-traumatic stress disorders resulting from the war was signed by the president," said a statement issued by Ukraine's parliament.

In December 2023, the parliament passed a bill on the legalization of medical cannabis.

The law will come into force six months after its official publication.
